Best Used Pinball Machines

"Ever since I was a young boy,
I've played the silver ball.
From Soho down to Brighton
I must have played them all.
But I ain't seen nothing like him
In any amusement hall.
That deaf, dumb and blind kid
Sure plays a mean pinball!"

“Pinball Wizard”, from the Rock Opera “Tommy” by the Who – Pete Townshend, 1969

The Good Old Days

King Kool (1972) - One of my favorites back in the day

King Kool (1972) - One of my favorites back in the day

Since I’m over 50, I was a teenager before video games came out, and the only game in town was pinball machines. I used to work at a bowling alley, and they had all the best ones there – King Kool, Drop-A-Card, Captain Fantastic, and Playboy were a few of my favorites.

Another favorite place I used to go was the Greyhound Bus Station. They had lots of great pins there. I'm sure my mom would have killed me if she'd known how much time (and money) I spent at the bus station!

Then, along came video games – Pong for starters on your TV set, but it wasn’t long before there were video games at the bowling alley crowding out my beloved pinballs – Asteroids, Space Invaders, Centipede, and more. It was a sad day, and kind of the beginning of the end of the pinball heyday.

Stern - The Only Game In Town

Pirates Of The Caribbean From Amazon

Pirates Of The Caribbean Pinball Machine

Now, there is only one company still making pinball machines – Stern. They make some beauties, but the old, famous ones like Williams and Gottlieb are gone. Still, you can get some nice new pinball machines from Stern, with names like Pirates of the Caribbean, Nascar, 24, Monopoly, and CSI. These are all available new, delivered right to your door. Imagine, having a pinball right in your living room (if you’re not married), or maybe down the basement if you are.

Used Pinball Machines

If you don’t want to pay the money for a new machine, you can always find used pinball machines on the internet, and you can get some pretty good deals. Plus, there are bunch of guys that fix the old ones up and sell them like new. It’s a big business, parts for the old machines to make them shine again!

So if you want to hear the bells and see the lights in your own house, browse around our site and see what we have to offer – you’ll be able to exercise those flipper fingers just like in your high school days!
